Exciting changes are coming in October 2025

We're enhancing the Greenbacks flights discount benefit to offer greater savings and new opportunities for our most engaged members. Members on higher levels will enjoy bigger discounts on flights, which will make travel more affordable than ever.

To unlock 80% off flights, you'll need to do the following:

  • Spend at least R60 000 over 3 consecutive months using your Greenbacks-linked American Express® Credit Card (e.g. R20 000 every month, or R25 000 in month 1, R15 000 in month 2, and R20 000 in month 3).
  • Maintain Greenbacks level 5 during those 3 months.
  • Have one of the following accounts: MiGoals Plus, MiGoals Premium, Private Clients Bundle, Private One, or NPW Bundle.

This behaviour unlocks a 50% booster, which is added to your standard 30% level 5 discount, giving you a total of 80% off on eligible flights.

Flight discount eligibility update

Flight discounts will now be exclusive to members on level 3 and above.

Annual flight allowance refreshed
Your updated flight benefit will include the following:

  • 6 local flight tickets (a return trip counts as 2 tickets)
  • 1 international return* ticket

*Note: Codeshare bookings are excluded.

Booking policy update

Flight discounts are now exclusive to the Greenbacks members. You can still book flights for others, but the discount will apply to you only. If the individuals you're booking for are also Greenbacks members, their individual discount will apply based on their own level.

How does Greenbacks work?

There are four main goals to aim for every month. Each has at least one related behaviour in terms of money habits. Demonstrate the same behaviours each month at a minimum to maintain your reward level and earn rate. Levels are calculated monthly based on banking behaviour. If you miss the mark, you still have a chance to get back on track the following month.

  • You must have a qualifying Nedbank transactional account to join Greenbacks.
  • Your income or salary must be paid into your qualifying Nedbank transactional account.
  • You must spend at least R5,000 on your card or swipe your card at least three times every month.
  • You must not have missed a loan repayment within the past 12 months. If you fall behind on any of your debt repayments or premiums, you will not be eligible to earn Greenbacks in that month.
  • '“Money out” means money that you pay a third party, for example, a retailer or service provider using Bill Payments or buying prepaid airtime, data or electricity on the Money app or Online Banking.
