Fraud Awareness Campaign

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It’s tax season, so beware of SARS-related scams.

Fraudsters send fake letters, emails and SMSs pretending to be from the South African Revenue Service (SARS). They might ask for payments into fake accounts or ask you to click on links for refunds or to action urgent demand letters.

SARS never provides bank account numbers for payments. Use only Nedbank-approved beneficiary details loaded on Online Banking and our banking app for SARS payments.

Clicking on links is risky! They take you to webpages where you are asked for your card details or Nedbank ID username and password.

Tips to keep safe:

  • SARS will never ask for your card details or digital banking username and password via links.
  • Update your personal information via the official SARS website or app using your login details.
  • Don't rush to share your personal information - verify the request with SARS first.
  • If you think that your information might have been compromised, call 0800 110 929 immediately.
